SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — The Sherman Independent School District Student Nutrition staff hosted a summer meal kickoff party Thursday at Hawn Park. During the summer, the district is helping feed schoolchildren. Kids 18 and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years of age can get free meals. "It's important to everybody who works for Sherman ISD that we insure that over the summer, we are completing that gap," said food service director Tasha Alcala. "So the more we can provide for them, and the longer we can make sure they are provided nutritious meals, the better for all of us.
