SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — The Texas Rangers are investigating after a bank holdup suspect was fatally shot by Sherman police on Friday night. Police said they received a 911 call at 9:35 p.m. saying a man in the parking lot of the VFW Post on Baker Drive cut the building's phone lines and had a weapon. Department spokesperson Sgt. Brett Mullen described what happened next: "The first officer arrived at 9:39 p.m. The officer encountered the suspect outside of the business. The suspect pulled a handgun, forcing the responding officer to shoot.
